Providing both primary and comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health care to individuals with special health care needs is an integral part of the specialty of paediatric dentistry and orthodontics.

Our dental experts are here to cultivate a community environment where all children feel secure, welcomed, and comfortable. This, of course, extends to our patients who live with disabilities. Our team members have received specific, specialized training to provide individualized care and necessary accommodations.
We are passionate about the healthcare needs of patients with special needs both in and out of the clinic, and our doctors are strong advocates of improving access to oral healthcare for everyone.
Prof. Dimitris Emmanouil served as President for IADH, the International Association of Oral Health, and was instrumental in developing the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum guidance in Special Care Dentistry.
Dr. Manos Emmanouil, in addition to presenting at several international scientific congresses, carried out research focused on craniofacial syndromes during his residency at the University of Michigan, and he was able to be part of the Craniofacial Anomalies Program at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, one of the largest programs of its kind in the United States.
Prof. Emmanouil is the Director of Special Smiles, Healthy Athletes program of the Special Olympics in Greece. He ran the program during the International Special Olympics in Athens, Greece, in 2011 which provided oral examinations, prevention and emergency treatment to more than 3,500 young athletes with special needs during the games. Together with Dr. Manos they have also been instrumental in organizing local special Smiles programs in Greece.
